First week of school

Well, all we had for first week of school are lectures, so it is, as usual, the honeymoon week of the sem. However, that will change when we have tutorials to catch up on and projects to rush. Dreadful. The fact that exam seems so near doesn't help. It will be just 3 months away.

Anyway, the most difficult module of the sem is neither AFA nor MA2. (Wanna make a guess? I will reveal the answer later) The lecturer for AFA is very good. She seems strict with high expectation, but she can makes complicated theories look simple. There is another male lecturer who will lecture us for AFA. I hope I can manage the 15% project. Though she said it is intensive, the 15% weightage look more reasonable than the annoying 3% for the group project we did for RFA. Done the tutorial for the 1st week. Only 2 questions, but I could balance neither accounts. My friends couldn't tally either. Thank god there weren't many questions. I wonder how will I cope when week 3 come. According to the lecturer, the first 2 weeks are light-weight. There are 177 students for AFA.

The lecturer for MA2 is ok. He seems amazingly sporty for a module leader for MA2. He does, however, encourage us and assure us that MA2 would be a more interesting module than CA and MA1. Sadly, he doesn't make the 1st topic anymore accessible for us. Still, the 1st topic seems manageable to me. The reason why I haven't started doing the tutorial is the number of questions waiting for me to complete.

High expectation notwithstanding, our Claw lecturer is humorous. She mentioned that the previous batch got an average of grade B, which is 70 and above. She even said that she does not want any student getting a C. Talking about pressure. I would be happy to get a C, but she does encourage(or push) me to do better and aim for a higher grade. Claw is an open-book module, so make sure you don't write anything on the textbook, just like for our FRS. There are 174 students for the current batch of Claw.

Now comes to the most annoying module of the sem: Audit 2. The lecturer came across as unnatural to me. My friends agreed that he talked like a robot. The way this module is assessed is impertinent. Right, no project, but the 20% participation, which is grade on 4 awkward components, looks so ridiculous that I would rather have a typical project. Getting D+ for Audit1 only makes this module more tedious to me. My friend found the tutorial confusing and I could hardly care less.

Principle of Marketing is interesting, and the lecturer is fine for me. Ironically, there appears to be more BIT students than ACC students for this module. BIT students seems to have so much more life than we ACC students. The lecture was much more noisy than other lectures.

It is a good start of the semester, having known 2 of my new classmates even before the tutorial begin. I am looking forward to my TA29 reunion tomorrow. Hope it will be a blast.

Long time no blog

I haven't been blogging and I wondered why. Maybe other people go attachement already, so not blogging much, then I also don't want to blog too. Also, I don't do any maintenance for my blog.

Anyway, since I last blogged, life hasn't been too eventful for me except going to gym or swimming. At home, read newspaper, online, and helping out with some housework. In between, went to Genting again, this time 3 days 2 nights, so not so rush. Went to Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum. An interesting exploration. Those going Genting can consider going there.

First day of school

Hmmm.... My first lecture of the semester: AFA. Looks like a tough module, but our lecturer Linda Ng is a very good lecturer. My last semester before going to APT. I will miss poly life terribly. Hope I can gather more memories there before leaving for NS. Being a 3rd year student, it felt odd coming to school. It felt like yesterday when I entered school as a freshie. When queueing up for notes at library photocopying store, I remember how I envy 3rd year students of having the priviledge of having another queue. Now that I am utilising the queue myself, it is much shorter than the default one since only 3rd students are queueing inside and half the batch of 3rd year students are on attachment.

Holland V!

Went to clementi for K-lunch with my friend Ailing. For once, the lunch there is sufficient. Beside, it is quite tasty as usual. This time, it is soy suace chicken rice. The 2 of us sang until we lost our voice.

After that, we went to Holland V for the first time. We really like sotong heads. We overshot by 1 bus station and had to walk 10 minutes under the hot sun there. All we notice was the Holland shopping centre and a row of shops. We were looking for coffee bean, but only found Starbucks. So we had coffee there and chit-chat for a couple of hours.

Later, we went to the Holland shopping centre. Other than cold storage, it wasn't a note worthy trip there, for the shops there seem to cater to the tourists. When we left the building, we wonder why is the Holland V like nothing like that. Just a shopping centre and a row of shops?!

Of course, we turn into the road between the shopping centre and the street of shops to truly discover Holland V! We both couldn't feel anymore stupid. Coffee bean! Jap restaurants! Bars! How could we had overlooked them?! That is the Holland V we were expecting! Anyway, as interesting as they are, they are too costly for us. I think they are meant more for tourists. We had Swensen instead after a long consideration, walking up and down thw streets like fools. LOL! Anyway, there is a mini-shopping centre with several shops that we found more relevant than those in Holland shopping centre.

A fine day indeed!
