Common test over

My common tests have all ended, and know what? I am confident that I will pass all modules. Of course, MA2 was a killer. Even then, I could do it. Now, just want to catch up on some sleep before I start working on my nightmarish projects again. To be honest, hearing what my friends say about attachment, I treasure my time in school even more. Hope to further my study after my NS. By the way, saw "The Island" today after my last paper, Principles of Marketing. Action-packed, it is watchable. I saw it for Scarlett Johansson. She is so attractive..........

Study week- Graduation weeks

This semester's study week clash with the 5-days graduation. Many ex-students came to school in formal costumes. They look quite happy. Wonder how my graduation will be like. Hopefully, it will be a happy end to my 3 years of commitment to Ngee Ann poly. During the study week, I saw plenty of NS men in the campus. They don't look happy, for some really. I wonder why. Maybe they were disappointed that they couldn't join the graduation ceremony due to time conflict and had to collect their cert at the office? Of course, there are NS men who put on a happy face despite of being botak, especially those in formal clothing. Guess it would be joyful to join the graduation ceremony. Hope I can make it then. Wonder what will the reaction of my friends be if they saw me bald. ^_^

BTW, for the first time, I do project during study break week, as was absolutely necessary (See WISP Assignment 2).

WISP Assignment 2: War

We have to present our 40% assignment on the monday right after common test, and we barely begins. Of course, reading about the brutal details of the selected event (Cambodia's Killing Field for me) doesn't help, considering how depressing AFA project already is. However, I think it is a more efficient way to learn history, as compared to our secondary school learning style.

As I read on Straits Times' Youthlink, a writer said that history is for us to remember, not memorise. I wholeheartedly agree. I also remember that someone made this painfully true comment: People remembers the date, venue, and the facts of the event, but not the lesson of the event. Perhaps this is way we are still making mistake that had been made before, and continue to pay the price that our forefathers have already paid for us. Perhaps we are taking things for granted too easily?

Going back to WISP, out tutor gives us grade that make us pale, yet she claim that she is very lenient already. Really, I wonder what does she want out of us, out of our presentations?

Common test period

Can't believe this. Always wanted to blog, but most of the time, I don't even remember I have a blog. In fact, I don't even look at my hotmail inbox regularly since weeks ago. Reading email is something I do daily. Now I only look at it a couple of times a week. Sometimes my group member even scold me for not looking at the files they sent me! Now, what got me to blog again? Well, had my AFA common test last friday. Going to have Audit 2 tomorrow.

Anyway, though the project for AFA is one of the most difficult projects I have ever done(The other one is event communication), the common test itself is alot easier than RFA. In fact, it is easier than IFA. Because it has only 50 marks. 30 marks on cash flow(It gets easy when you practise. Several times at least if you want to have a guarantee pass), 15 marks for the relatively easy foreign exhange, and 5 marks for project-based Interpretation of financial statement. Of the 6 weeks, 3 weeks were devoted to project presentation, and the formulas for interpretation of financial statement is nothing complicated. You don't even need to practise, just memorise. Of course, the project is far more difficult as the requirements are complicated. Forex cover 2 weeks. 1 for computation, and the other for journal entries. The journal entries for Forex has to be the easiest I have ever done. Cash flow occupy just 1 week, but it is the most difficult of all. However, with minimal coverage, you can spend a lot of time focusing on cash flow.

Just submitted my past year paper for MA2 to tutor to mark. So I decided to blog as I rest before moving on to revise Audit 2. Cheers!

A mad,mad, mad, sem........

Well, not that nothing interesting happened to me recently, but time pass to quickly for me to put them down in words. In fact, I very much forgot what I want to write. Anyway, not that I am less busy, just that I need a bit of breathing space before I chiong for the common tests. After common tests, still have to chiong for several projects. WISP assignment 2 (reminds me of a topic I want to blog) due on monday right after common test(Crazy!). AFA project got a lot to amend, and that is not even the worse part.

The worse part is that I don't even know how to do, and my group members are just as clueless. AFA should be the central attention for the last sem. 3 weeks of project presentation. 1 week of cash flow(A painfully tough topic). This is the only single week topic for AFA, but its difficulty? Not as tedious as notes to financial statement, but very hard to compute ( I would kowtow to you if you can even balance cash flow statement), and even more difficult to analyse. I rather do notes to financial statement, so much analysing tools to remember, and it is application from the computation, which I won't even now if it would be correct. Computation wrong, analysis also wrong. And this question carries a lot of marks. If there is any consolation, other topics are relatively easy.

The workload for AFA is apparent. Even our CLAW lecturer Mrs. Gopolan (A good lecturer by the way, pray hard that she will be your tutor if you are still in attachment), joked about it. Using an example for oppression against minority shareholder, she uses student as example of oppressed group (Oppressed by AFA). Students complain that AFA too much to do. Then Mrs. Gopolan sarcastically switch herself into the oppressed person. She said someting like this: A student come and tell me "Cher, my mind is full of Linda Ng (AFA Module leader and lecturer), that's why I cannot think of you. I can only think of Linda Ng". Don't think only students feel oppressed, teacher can also feel oppressed. How dare you break my heart? Tell me you only think of Linda Ng, never think of me........." Of course, the whole lecture hall laughed. Once you start doing AFA project, you will understand. In fact, I had a hard time to shake off AFA project off my mind when I should start concentrating on common tests. *Sigh* I am blogging now because my brain has over-worked. Need to rest, but I can't afford to rest for too long.

Anyway, if you think I have already talked a lot about AFA, you are wrong. I will devote some of my time to talk about the project when I am free. You won't want to begin AFA project with no tips.

Want to talk about other modules, but I am too tired le............ Wish me good luck for the common tests and the projects! :-P
